The University of California, Santa Barbara provides a PhD Emphasis in Cognitive Science option. Doctoral candidates from twelve participating departments (including Anthropology, Communication, Comparative Literature, Computer Science, Education, English, Geography, Linguistics, Media Arts & Technology, Music, Philosophy, and Psychological and Brain Sciences) can opt into this emphasis program by fulfilling additional course requirements, showcasing their research, and focusing on cognitive science themes in their academic work.
This Cognitive Science Program embodies the cross-disciplinary focus of faculty and students across the College of Letters & Sciences, Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, and College of Engineering from the aforementioned departments, along with contributing faculty from other areas (such as Electrical & Computer Engineering, Sociology, and Counseling Clinical & School Psychology). The Program establishes a framework that enables the exchange of research ideas and fosters cooperation between faculty members, departments, and students.
