As an art and architecture history student, you'll gain comprehensive understanding of global artistic traditions, building design, and urban development, while specializing in specific eras, geographic areas, or artistic media. This includes studying stylistic elements, symbolic representations, spatial organization, digital media, and their related societal influences. You'll critically examine visual and spatial culture through written and visual analysis, crafting papers and presentations with coherent, evidence-based arguments. The program emphasizes cross-disciplinary methods to explore the complex forces shaping architectural works, communities, urban spaces, and natural environments, along with their cultural and political meanings. Our curriculum features diverse offerings: 14 foundational survey classes, more than 100 advanced topic lectures, and intensive undergraduate seminars focused on research, writing, and hands-on projects. High-achieving students may pursue our rigorous Honors Program, earning special recognition on their academic records.
