The art history honors program offers exceptional students hands-on preprofessional training. This includes a seminar focused on contemporary issues, followed by guided group research, culminating in an exhibition with a catalog, an academic conference featuring simulated publications, and/or a collection of research papers. Eligible students, with approval from the art history faculty advisor or honors seminar instructor, can join the program in their junior year's final quarter or during senior year. The Visual Arts Department provides instruction in painting, drawing, sculpture, performance, digital arts, film, video, photography, and art history/criticism (including film and video analysis). Earning a bachelor's degree from this department equips students with a strong liberal arts foundation, preparing them for careers as artists, art historians, filmmakers, video creators, photographers, digital media specialists, critics, or for advanced studies in art history and fine arts. Additionally, it develops foundational skills for teaching, museum work, television, and careers in commercial film, photography, and digital media industries.
