The M.S. program is a component of the BIG (Bioengineering Interdepartmental Graduate) initiative, designed for working professionals aiming to deepen their expertise across multiple bioengineering disciplines or for biology graduates looking to strengthen their qualifications for careers in diverse biotechnology sectors.
Earning a Master of Science requires completing at least 36 quarter credits, typically achievable within three to four quarters of full-time enrollment. The program offers both thesis (Plan I) and non-thesis (Plan II, Comprehensive Examination) tracks. Candidates wishing to pursue this Master's alongside a Ph.D. in another field must obtain special approval. Most students complete the MS in Bioengineering within a standard two-year timeframe.
