A minimum grade of C is needed in all prerequisite courses for the major. Applicants with below a 2.0 GPA in preparatory classes cannot be admitted to the major. Those who retake any prerequisite course multiple times will be automatically rejected from the program. All major courses must be completed for letter grades. For graduation, students need to maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in upper-division major courses, achieving C grades or higher in Sociology 101 and 102.
No more than 8 units of Sociology 199 can be counted. The required seven courses (two theory classes, three core area courses, one methods course, and one sociology elective) must be completed while enrolled in UCLA's College of Letters and Science.
