The School of Biological Sciences provides Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs, with primary focus on doctoral studies at the graduate level. While departmental structures organize most training, all graduate students across Biological Sciences departments have access to complete facilities and course offerings. Cross-disciplinary learning and research initiatives are strongly supported.
Academic performance must remain at or above a B average throughout enrollment. Standard completion timelines are two years for master's candidates and five years for doctoral candidates. Earning a master's degree is not required before pursuing a Ph.D.
Academic planning occurs through collaboration with graduate advisors or faculty committees, with flexibility to change advisors as student needs evolve. With approval from the Graduate Studies dean and acceptance into another program, students may transfer within the School. Faculty mentorship is available to guide students in aligning research pursuits with academic goals.
