The History Graduate Program at UCI provides students with a vibrant academic environment characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration between faculty and students. Key research areas include: Transnational and imperial studies, Global historical perspectives, Science, technology, medicine, and environmental history, Gender and sexuality studies, Religious history. The program encourages cross-disciplinary discussions through specialized seminars that unite students across various historical periods and regions. Our unique methodology blends in-depth theoretical exploration with meticulous analysis of primary sources, including archival materials, texts, oral histories, and artifacts. Students can earn an M.A. in History, typically through either an oral examination or thesis within a one-year timeframe.
