Cross-disciplinary reading and research seminars encourage collaboration by uniting students from diverse geographical and historical backgrounds, fostering a unique educational methodology. This method blends in-depth theoretical exploration with meticulous analysis of archival materials, oral histories, and physical artifacts. With its intimate size, the UCI History Department ensures personalized guidance while maintaining a dynamic scholarly network. Opportunities include specialized training in public-facing writing, initiatives in history education and K-12 engagement through the UC Irvine History Project, and expanding resources in digital humanities. Additionally, students can enhance their studies by engaging with interdisciplinary concentrations across campus, such as Critical Theory, East Asian Studies, and Gender and Sexuality Studies. The program's modest scale facilitates strong faculty-student partnerships, enabling customized academic paths aligned with each student's aspirations.
