The School of Education provides a doctoral program in Education, welcoming applicants from diverse backgrounds with the potential to excel as scholars and researchers. This Ph.D. program features three specialization tracks: (1) Human Development in Context, (2) Educational Policy and Social Context, and (3) Teaching, Learning, and Educational Improvement. Applicants select their focus area according to their academic interests.
The curriculum typically spans two to three years, including core classes, methodological training, electives, and guided research components. To progress, students must complete a first-year research poster, second-year paper, and 12 designated courses. Advancement to candidacy occurs in the fourth year's fall quarter, with the standard completion timeframe being five years (maximum seven years).
