The Mathematics Department provides a Bachelor of Science degree program. This program features six distinct pathways: a standard track along with five focused specializations (Mathematical Biology, Mathematical Finance, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Mathematics for Education, and Mathematics for Education with Secondary Teaching Certification). Additionally, students can pursue minors in Mathematics or Mathematics for Biology. The undergraduate curriculum includes various mathematics courses designed for different purposes: foundational courses for advanced studies in mathematics, exact sciences, and engineering; classes tailored for social and biological science majors; and courses suitable for liberal arts students and future educators.
The Mathematics for Education specialization emphasizes coursework particularly relevant for aspiring math teachers. Students can simultaneously complete a CCTC-approved subject matter program (SMP) in Mathematics through this specialization, which allows them to bypass subject matter examinations required for teaching credentials
