Urban Studies majors at the undergraduate level will gain familiarity with the worldwide issues of urbanization and develop the analytical capabilities necessary to tackle them. This program prepares students for advanced studies in disciplines such as urban planning, community and economic development, and transportation, among others, or for entry-level roles in sectors focused on urban issues like planning, community development, transportation, and housing. The Department of Planning, Policy, and Design employs an interdisciplinary method to explore urban and regional planning, public policy matters, and the constructed environment. Faculty members engage in scholarly and instructional activities centered on theory-based and evidence-driven urban research, with expertise in areas including urban and community development, environmental policy, health promotion and policy, and urban design and behavior. Their educational emphasis lies in addressing urban, social, public policy, and environmental challenges.
