This certificate program offers foundational training in gathering, organizing, interpreting, and visually representing (mapping) spatial information. It is available to all undergraduate students at NIU. Participants must remain in good academic standing with the university, earn a minimum grade of C in every certificate course, maintain a GPA of at least 3.00 across all certificate courses, and finish all required coursework within six years. All certificate requirements must be fulfilled at NIU. Subject to departmental approval, some or all certificate courses may count toward undergraduate degree requirements within the department. The Department of Geographic and Atmospheric Sciences retains the authority to restrict enrollment in any certificate course.

High School Diploma: You must have graduated by the time you start at NIU in order to be admitted. Grades: You must have passing grades equivalent to a U.S. C plus average on all transcripts and/or exam scores.The ACT or SAT is required for international freshmen applicants from U.S. high schools. Official TOEFL or IELTS score report TOEFL: Either an Internet-based or paper-based test.
