The European Studies program examines Europe through multiple academic lenses in the humanities and social sciences. As Europe represents both a physical location and an evolving concept across history, its interpretation has varied across eras and regions. This field of study demands a flexible, inclusive, and cross-disciplinary approach that critically engages with Europe's diverse conceptualizations. The curriculum offers a comprehensive perspective on Europe's development, examining its historical evolution, political structures, cultural influences, and worldwide interactions beyond European borders. Students can concentrate on particular aspects of European heritage that transcend conventional academic divisions and national frameworks. All European Studies students are highly encouraged to participate in the UC Education Abroad Program within a European nation.
