Research in Global Environmental Change is conceptually rooted in physical geography and related fields like atmospheric sciences, ecology, geology, hydrology, and their environmental specializations. Leveraging UC Davis's strong programs in agricultural sciences, biological sciences, ecology, engineering, law, physical sciences, and veterinary medicine, students can craft customized coursework that forms the ideal foundation for their specific academic and professional goals. Participants in Global Environmental Change programs primarily come from departments including Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science and Policy, Geology, Land, Air and Water Resources, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design, Plant Sciences, and Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology. These scholars are also connected with campus research entities such as the John Muir Institute of the Environment, the Center for Watershed Sciences, the Information Center on the Environment, the Center for Spatial Technologies and Remote Sensing, and the Tahoe Environmental Research Center.
