Nutrition professionals assist individuals in adopting healthier lifestyles and controlling prevalent health conditions through dietary education and guidance on wholesome and therapeutic eating plans. They are employed across various sectors including hospitals, clinical environments, public health organizations, government nutrition initiatives, food corporations, and private practices. This curriculum holds accreditation from the ACEND, the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics under the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The initial two years focus on fundamental coursework spanning natural and social sciences. Advanced studies mirror the nutrition science major's requirements while incorporating specialized training in food service administration, instructional methods, sociological principles, and interpersonal communication to equip students for public-facing roles.
The Clinical Nutrition program delivers comprehensive instruction in nutritional science (both standard and therapeutic), biological/social sciences, food technology, effective communication, business administration, and food service operations. This degree satisfies the academic prerequisites for entering dietetic internships or comparable programs - a mandatory step before attaining registered dietitian status. Starting January 1, 2024, the CDR (Commission on Dietetic Registration) mandates a graduate degree as the minimum educational requirement for eligibility to sit for the registered dietitian certification examination.
Freshman applicant will be completing or have completed secondary school and have not enrolled at any college or university.
