An English degree equips students with skills valued across diverse professions, including analytical reasoning, articulate writing, research proficiency, and textual interpretation. Our curriculum explores a broad spectrum of literary forms - from ancient epics to contemporary media like films, graphic novels, and experimental poetry - redefining traditional boundaries of English literature. The program begins with foundational literary studies before progressing to historical and contextual examinations. Students can tailor their studies to specialized interests, whether in critical theory, influential authors, multicultural works, or interdisciplinary connections with fields like environmental studies or film analysis. Additional pathways include concentrations in education, creative writing, or general literary studies.
Alumni have successfully pursued careers in education, writing, legal and medical fields, library sciences, and journalism. The degree also serves as strong preparation for roles in publishing, advertising, marketing, and technology. Graduates have secured positions in government agencies at all levels and various industries, while others have advanced to graduate programs spanning English, education, counseling, and related disciplines.
Freshman applicant will be completing or have completed secondary school and have not enrolled at any college or university.
