Asian American studies provides an introduction to and deeper understanding of the Asian American experience for all learners. Majors thoroughly examine cultural practices, heritage, obstacles, and achievements across diverse Asian American groups. The program includes an internship partnership with the Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies and the New Vietnam Studies Initiative, enabling students to engage in both volunteer work and research projects. Graduates emerge with enriched perspectives on Asian experiences and develop professional competencies that support their career aspirations. Our department enables students to investigate Asian American narratives, focusing on community dynamics, cultural expressions, and historical developments. We deliver a comprehensive, interdisciplinary program incorporating methodologies from fields like history, legal studies, activism, global affairs, media analysis, gender studies, public health, and beyond. Following foundational coursework in Asian American studies, students can select specialized electives and gain practical experience through research opportunities and community-based internships.
