The program embodies the Department's interdisciplinary focus and diverse perspectives, promoting proficiency in one or more languages taught by the Department. Students work with faculty advisors to design a tailored curriculum that demonstrates a clear theoretical, (multi)disciplinary, or thematic framework for East Asian studies. Alumni of this program have pursued careers in government, media, finance, and consulting, while many others advance to graduate or professional programs shortly after completing their degrees.
Students should complete secondary school. Brown first-year students will have completed 12 to 13 years of primary and secondary schooling.
A TOEFL score of 100 or above on the internet-based exam, or 600 or above on the paper-based exam, or a score of 8.0 or above on the IELTS, is expected in most cases.
