The Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning provides graduate-level programs, including a professional Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning. The MLA degree, accredited by the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board under the American Society of Landscape Architects, prepares graduates for professional licensure in California and other regions. Recognized as a STEM discipline, the MLA program delivers comprehensive training in landscape architecture and environmental planning, covering scales from individual sites to regional ecosystems. A structured core curriculum ensures all students develop skills in cross-scale analysis, representation, design, and planning, serving as the groundwork for advanced studies in specialized areas of landscape design and environmental planning.
