The Master of Arts in Landscape Architecture (MALA) program is designed for individuals seeking deeper expertise in landscape-related subjects while pursuing specialized research through a liberal arts lens. While this program doesn't lead to professional licensure, it equips graduates for careers requiring landscape architecture design principles, creative problem-solving abilities, visual presentation techniques, and expertise in connected disciplines like ecological stewardship, sustainable planning, and green urban systems. Although the program requires a minimum of 42 credit hours, students can collaborate with advisors to tailor their coursework, enabling focused development of either design capabilities or supplementary knowledge as needed. A comprehensive thesis project serves as the program's culminating requirement.
