The Iowa State University Landscape Architecture Department provides an LAAB-accredited 3-year professional Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) program. Students can also pursue a 2-year post-professional MLA degree, available to those holding an accredited Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from U.S. or Canadian institutions. The MLA admissions committee evaluates eligibility for advanced standing. Additionally, the department collaborates on dual-degree programs including Community and Regional Planning (MLA/MCRP), Urban Design (MLA/MUD), and Sustainable Environments (MLA/MDesSE).
This professional MLA program welcomes applicants regardless of their undergraduate background in landscape architecture. The curriculum equips students with both practical expertise and research capabilities for professional practice. Program graduates fulfill the educational requirements for licensure as established by the Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board.
