The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences provides a doctoral program in Earth and Planetary Science. The graduate program's primary goal is to foster innovative thinking and cultivate skills for conducting autonomous, groundbreaking research. An undergraduate foundation in physical sciences is particularly advantageous, with many of our graduate students coming from backgrounds in physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, or astronomy. Students enter directly into the Earth and Planetary Science PhD track, typically pursuing their doctorate without intermediate steps.

While the department does have a one-year Master's program, enrollment is restricted solely to alumni of our undergraduate Earth and Planetary Science degree. Applications for the MA program are not considered from students with different academic backgrounds or from other institutions.
