The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences provides graduate students with global opportunities for geological and geophysical field research. Current departmental research concentrates on three key areas: solid earth sciences/tectonics/crustal processes, climate studies, and water resources/hydrology. Our academic home is the William B. Heroy Geology Laboratory, featuring cutting-edge analytical equipment, advanced computing resources, and modern instructional spaces. Every faculty member actively participates in both research and education.
Our graduate program enrolls students working toward either M.S. or Ph.D. degrees. Many faculty-led research initiatives involve extensive collaborations across multiple institutions and nations, enabling our students to conduct fieldwork in diverse global locations alongside teams of renowned international researchers. Faculty and graduate students are presently engaged in field investigations across the world.
