The joint major programs cater to students aiming to pursue studies across two engineering disciplines, preparing them for careers in either field or roles requiring expertise in both areas. These programs balance coursework equally between both majors. Though they involve a somewhat heavier academic workload, students can finish within the standard four-year timeframe. Both majors appear on the official academic transcript. Participants in this joint program are dually enrolled in the College of Engineering and the College of Chemistry, with their primary affiliation being the College of Chemistry.
Nuclear technology sectors that rely significantly on chemical engineering education encompass isotope separation, fuel reprocessing, waste handling, material preparation, fuel chemistry, emission regulation, fusion reactor fuel processing, and innovative reactor designs.
