In our Dance and Performance Studies program, we view performance as a form of critical investigation, creative exploration, and community connection. Students experience dance through physical, intellectual, and artistic dimensions. Our goal is to nurture dancers who evolve not just as performers, but as creative visionaries, analytical thinkers, skilled creators, engaged audiences, dedicated scholars, and active contributors. The program emphasizes contemporary dance and dance theater performance and choreography, while equally valuing the examination of theatrical and dance theory, history, cultural contexts, and literature.
Our department provides intensive dance training and academic coursework designed for students passionate about exploring dance from diverse viewpoints. Whether pursuing a major or minor, you'll learn from faculty recognized globally for their academic research and artistic achievements. Alumni have established careers with professional dance ensembles, while others have pursued advanced degrees across arts disciplines, building professional paths in academia, nonprofit organizations, healthcare, education, and corporate sectors.
