The African American Studies undergraduate program immerses students in examining the social, political, and cultural narratives of African-descended communities across the modern era. While concentrating mainly on the U.S. context, the curriculum situates African American experiences within wider global conversations about race's changing role throughout history and in today's society. Through its interdisciplinary approach spanning historical, cultural, and institutional studies, the major equips students with critical research, analytical, and writing competencies that alumni have successfully applied across diverse careers - from education and public policy to media, professional schools (law, medicine, business), and advanced academic pursuits.
