Our Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering program is widely recognized for outstanding achievements across national and global platforms. The PhD in Civil Engineering demands that candidates produce a dissertation showcasing innovative research with exceptional academic rigor. Participants may specialize in areas including geosystems engineering, structural systems, mechanics and materials science, or transportation infrastructure studies.
When applying to a graduate program in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, students must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or any mathematical, physical, behavioral, health sciences or related fields. Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA or higher (based on a 4.0 scale) for all undergraduate coursework.
Statement of Purpose

Copies of transcript(s) for all post-secondary schoolwork must be uploaded with your application for initial review. Upon an offer of admission, accepted applicants will be required to submit official transcripts and proof of degree(s).
Two letters of recommendation are required to apply to master's programs. Three letters of recommendation are required to apply to PhD programs. Letters are automatically requested when you enter recommenders' names and email addresses in your application. While we will accept letters from professional sources, we strongly prefer letters from professors acquainted with your academic interests, achievements, and abilities.
