The materials science and engineering program establishes a foundation in materials informatics while implementing a "wet lab-dry lab" approach that merges experimental and computational training in materials research. With a robust materials core combined with data science methodologies, program graduates will be equipped to effectively collaborate and communicate with scientists across various disciplines. A UB Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) degree equips students to comprehend the processing, analysis, and application of materials crucial for generating innovative solutions that benefit society. Our faculty deliver rigorous academic instruction, producing graduates who possess comprehensive knowledge of synthesis techniques, characterization methods, and data analysis tools, enabling them to make meaningful contributions across diverse professional career paths.
Have earned the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.  If you have already completed secondary school, you need to submit both academic transcripts and proof of graduation with your application documents. 
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000, both overall and at the University at Buffalo
