The Sixth Year Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in Literacy Specialist is tailored for certified educators seeking graduate-level training beyond a master's degree. This DAS program qualifies participants for Connecticut's Initial Educator Certification in Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts (102) for grades 1 through 12. Recognized nationally by the International Literacy Program, the curriculum allows students who complete Connecticut's certification requirements to pursue additional coursework for the DAS, which involves 30 graduate-level credits. Educators without a master's degree can choose master's-level programs at elementary or secondary levels to obtain the same Initial Educator Certificate in Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts (102) for grades 1-12.
