The Environmental Science Department (ENVS) at UA provides graduate programs culminating in a Master of Science degree in Soil, Water and Environmental Science, with two specialization paths: Environmental Science or Soil and Water Science. Additionally, the department features a combined degree program, allowing students to earn both an MS in Soil, Water and Environmental Science and an MA in Journalism. Holders of this dual degree will be equipped to significantly influence how scientific information is collected and assessed within media outlets, as well as shape broader conversations in both scientific and journalistic circles regarding public understanding, policy impacts, and societal effects of scientific advancements.
ENVS actively promotes professional development by encouraging conference participation, student presentations, and academic publications. ALL applicants must be accepted for admission to both The Department of Environmental Science and The University of Arizona Graduate College. Minimum eligiblity requirements for admission to The Graduate College include completion of a bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree and a 3.000 grade point average on a 4.000 grade scale.

English language proficiency is one of the conditions for admission for all applicants whose native language is not English.
