The Biosystems Engineering Department invites applicants to join our Biosystems Analytics & Technology Master's programs. Our department specializes in biological systems and water-related challenges like irrigation and water quality, along with biosystems applications such as computer modeling, sensor technology, controls, and system design. Below are example course plans for MS students in the BAT program.
Our Biosystems Analytics & Technology graduate programs equip students for the 4th Industrial Revolution, where science, technology, and analytics converge. Addressing future global challenges demands innovative thinking, interdisciplinary approaches, and cutting-edge technologies. The BAT curriculum expands on students' undergraduate training in science, technology, and analytics, empowering them to tackle technological and data challenges in precision agriculture, remote sensing, water resource management, statistical informatics, data mining, and cyberinfrastructure. With vast amounts of unstructured data from sensors, cloud storage, and web interactions, data-driven insights are now within reach.
The BAT program aims to deliver an engaging, transformative educational journey that combines academic rigor with practical, cross-disciplinary experience—spanning genomics, precision agriculture, data science, and engineering technology. Students will learn systems-level thinking to analyze connections between food, water, and energy sustainability, gaining expertise in sensor technology, remote sensing (data collection), statistics, bioinformatics (data handling and analysis), and real-world problem-solving.
Designed to support the expanding field of technology-biology-analytics integration, the Biosystems Analytics & Technology program prepares graduates for diverse career paths in academia and industry. Through elective courses, students gain hands-on experience merging biological, physical, and data sciences with technology, applying these skills to environmental, ecological, agricultural, and human systems—ensuring they graduate with industry-ready expertise.
