Founded in 1977, the Center for the Study of Higher Education provides adaptable, cross-disciplinary master's and doctoral programs with specializations in comparative higher education, institutional leadership, college accessibility, and student services.
Those enrolled in the Master's program will cultivate expertise, competencies, and insights to become skilled practitioners, scholars, and educators across various academic settings and policy environments. The program offers both full-time and part-time options, requiring a minimum of 36 credit hours (with up to six transferable credits) and at least 12 credits completed at the Tucson campus. All degree requirements must be fulfilled within six years, with possible extensions through Graduate College approval.
The M.A. curriculum equips students with core knowledge of higher education systems, serving as a springboard for professional development and potential doctoral studies. Participants learn to critically evaluate and improve educational practices using contemporary research. The program benefits from strong collaborations with UA's student life initiatives and academic administration divisions.
