The healthcare sector accounts for almost 20% of the US economy and is expected to see substantial employment growth in the coming decades. There's a growing need for healthcare practitioners across various specialties, ranging from physicians and general practitioners to rehabilitation experts, nursing staff, and medical assistants. Foundational medical sciences serve as the groundwork for numerous healthcare careers. Those pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Medicine with a Basic Medical Sciences focus examine core human biological mechanisms. This program prepares students for advanced training in healthcare professions, covering physiological systems, cell biology, and clinical interventions while fulfilling prerequisites for medical school and other healthcare graduate programs.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Acquire comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiology in both healthy and diseased states, including proper medical terminology usage, and utilize this knowledge to assess treatment approaches.
Develop familiarity with medical technology applications and the complex data they produce, along with their role in personalized medicine.
Identify societal health influences such as racial/ethnic inequalities, and use research findings, established protocols, and clinical expertise to develop solutions addressing health disparities.
Recognize ethical obligations and professional conduct requirements in both individual and collaborative healthcare environments.
Cultivate continuous learning abilities, including information retrieval, analytical evaluation, and practical application to clinical challenges.
Students must have high school equivalent to USA and entry requirements vary from country to country. International applicants whose primary language is not English, or who attended school in a non-English speaking country, regardless of citizenship, must prove English proficiency. English proficiency may be proven by one or more of the following:
