UAF's secondary education program offers initial teaching certification for grades 7-12. Pursue rewarding teaching positions throughout Alaska and globally by completing your bachelor's in secondary education at UAF. This program grants you a dual major—a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in your selected academic discipline alongside professional education certification. An academic advisor will assist in designing a customized course plan. The curriculum features a yearlong teaching internship supervised by an experienced educator, complemented by diverse fieldwork that reinforces classroom learning. Upon graduation, you'll possess a full year of practical teaching experience. This immersive training, combined with our extensive network of statewide school partnerships, gives our graduates a competitive edge in the education job market.
