The Materials Science PhD - Science track is a collaborative initiative across all three University of Alabama system campuses. This interdisciplinary program brings together faculty from multiple departments across each campus to form the materials science teaching team. Participants explore subjects concerning materials science fundamentals, with particular focus on manufacturing processes, novel material development, and technological applications of materials.
Welcome to UAH's Materials Science Program. Students can earn a Ph.D through our Tri-Campus Joint Materials Science Doctoral Program or pursue a Master's degree directly at UAH.

Qualification Requirements
In order to be successful in this program it is recommended that a student have:
- A bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an approved college or university in engineering or one of the physical sciences;
- A minimum B level scholarship overall or over the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate credit;
- A minimum score of 300 on the Graduate Record Examination.
Applicants must meet the following minimums on the TOEFL or IELTS. TOEFL (iBT): all sub-scores greater than or equal to 18 OR IELTS: all sub-scores greater than or equal to 6.0.
