The Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) program provides two doctoral pathways: a post-baccalaureate PhD and a post-master's PhD, both focusing on advanced studies in contemporary materials science, engineering, and technology. These programs combine engineering, chemistry, and physics coursework with dissertation research, equipping students to tackle innovative challenges using both experimental and computational approaches. The curriculum includes training in communication and ethics, emphasizing the societal implications of materials science advancements.
Doctoral candidates in MSE engage in diverse research areas such as sustainable energy materials, solid-state lighting technologies, photonic systems, biomaterial analysis, nanomaterials, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and numerous other specialized materials science domains.
