The Bachelor of Arts in History with an Education specialization trains students to rigorously examine historical inquiries, locate reliable sources, evaluate information critically, synthesize diverse evidence, and recognize and interpret trends. Alongside history coursework, students take education classes to master effective methods for teaching historical concepts to learners.
Education majors can choose history as their secondary focus or opt for a dual degree program. Department majors who fulfill Class A&B education certification requirements satisfy all qualifications for Alabama teaching credentials.
International applicants must meet all established requirements for admission from secondary schools or from other colleges and universities.
In order to be considered for admission to degree programs with no additional English language training required, applicants must meet the following minimums on the TOEFL or IELTS.
TOEFL (iBT): all sub-scores greater than or equal to 18 OR
IELTS: all sub-scores greater than or equal to 6.0
