You're prepared to build upon your undergraduate knowledge and develop deep expertise in matter, energy, and their interactions. Earning an MS in Physics will give you a strong foundation in statistical mechanics, electromagnetic theory, mathematical physics, and quantum mechanics - essential for careers in research, industry, or academia.
Our program is designed to be rigorous, intensive, and research-oriented to prepare you for these career paths. You'll have opportunities to investigate the same research topics as our PhD candidates, ensuring you're fully prepared for doctoral studies if you choose to continue. The program offers two tracks: Plan I (thesis track) involves original research culminating in a thesis, with options to specialize in interdisciplinary fields like biophysics, chemical physics, or materials science. Alternatively, Plan II (non-thesis track) is ideal if you're undecided about pursuing a PhD or MD, replacing the thesis with additional advanced coursework and a comprehensive exam.
