The Master of Science in Physics equips students for diverse scientific career paths. As physics forms the foundation of all physical sciences, advanced study in this discipline offers crucial knowledge applicable across numerous fields. Individuals with robust physics backgrounds, along with expertise in subjects spanning from biology to engineering, are welcome to explore tailored MS programs in physics. Graduates enjoy abundant employment prospects across multiple sectors.
To earn the MS Degree, candidates must complete at least 30 course credits beyond their Bachelor's Degree (with a minimum of 15 credits at the 8000 level) while maintaining a 3.0 (B) GPA or higher. Additionally, they must pass the Departmental Qualifying Examination at the MS level. The residency requirement mandates that 24 of these credit hours be completed at MU (with a maximum of 6 transfer credits allowed). Typically, students fulfill these requirements by the conclusion of their second year at MU.
