The Medical/Clinical Psychology concentration within the Psychology Ph.D. program represents a partnership between the Department of Psychology and various units across the UAB Health System. While covering core clinical psychology topics like psychopathology, therapeutic interventions, and diagnostic evaluation for all age groups, our curriculum emphasizes medical applications including behavioral health, pediatric mental health, neurological assessment, recovery psychology, aging-related mental health, addiction studies, and healthcare inequities. The program systematically combines classroom learning, scientific investigation, and hands-on clinical experience, with all components incorporating training to recognize and treat psychological and physiological health issues in diverse populations.
