The MFA Book Arts Program offers a 60-credit curriculum focused on the craftsmanship and artistic traditions of handmade books. Students nurture their creative vision by mastering techniques rooted in historical methods and practices. The program covers letterpress printing, typography, hand binding, papermaking, artist books, and book history, equipping students to understand books as artistic and social mediums. While we emphasize the book as a cohesive artistic form blending materials, techniques, and design with visual and written expression, students can specialize in particular areas after completing foundational coursework.

Qualification Requirements
Each international applicant must hold the equivalent of a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution to be eligible for graduate admission. While individual departments may have more stringent requirements, bachelor degrees from Bologna Accord certified institutions are considered to meet this criterion. We do also consider Indian three-year degrees to be equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree.
