Through diverse interdisciplinary exploration, you'll gain the skills to make an impact through your artistic creations at Pratt and throughout your career. Our MFA program focuses on fine arts as a whole rather than specializing in any single medium. While many students concentrate on specific areas like painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, or integrated practices, they're encouraged to experiment with other artistic forms as their creative vision develops. Close mentorship forms through organized studio critiques, seminars, and casual discussions, fostering meaningful connections and professional networks that last well beyond graduation.
The Printmaking Program promotes extensive cross-disciplinary learning. This comprehensive approach equips students to create transformative art during their Pratt experience and throughout their artistic journeys. Faculty members engage in a distinctive intergenerational exchange that's characteristic of New York's art scene. As active artists, writers, and critics, they bring both intellectual depth and appreciation for technical mastery to their teaching. The program also features guest lectures and studio visits from prominent artists, curators, critics, and arts professionals.
All applicants to graduate programs at Pratt must have received a four year bachelor's degree from an institution in the United States that is accredited by a recognized regional association or have been awarded the equivalent of the bachelor's degree from an international institution of acceptable standards by the term in which they plan to enroll.
