The Instructional Leadership PhD program, specializing in Social and Cultural Studies, focuses on enhancing professional practice and fostering school involvement. This program cultivates scholars, researchers, and educational leaders for various learning environments, guided by principles of thoughtful reflection, career advancement, civic engagement, and personal accountability. Its primary objective is to equip leaders with theoretical knowledge and critical awareness of sociocultural factors, enabling them to make informed decisions about curriculum, teaching methods, and organizational strategies in their workplaces.
The Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Technology Studies is committed to developing principled, thoughtful professionals and researchers for K12 schools, universities, and other learning institutions. Through instruction and community engagement, the department fosters the competencies, values, and understanding required to enhance education locally and regionally, while contributing to national research through faculty and student scholarship. Effective leadership demands comprehension of teaching methods, curriculum design, management approaches, and the evolving social, political, ethical, and financial dimensions of education. Aligned with the College's guiding principles, departmental programs tackle these demands by emphasizing student needs, subject mastery, technological integration, cooperative learning, and inclusive practices. We celebrate diversity, champion equity, and advocate for fairness. Additionally, the department engages in continuous discussions about educational advancement through partnerships with government bodies, school districts, and professional associations at all levels.
