The Higher Education Administration Program provides two pathways to earn an EdD degree. The first is our on-campus program in Tuscaloosa, delivering face-to-face instruction while allowing students to utilize the University's outstanding facilities, with adaptable scheduling choices. This EdD program equips aspiring leaders with advanced training for senior administrative positions in colleges, universities, government education agencies, and related organizations. The curriculum focuses on essential leadership skills, covering areas like program evaluation, education policy, financial management, organizational transformation, and student services administration.
Alternatively, the HEA program offers an Executive EdD format tailored for working professionals pursuing doctoral studies. This cohort-based program blends academic theory with practical research, enabling participants to enhance their leadership capabilities while continuing their careers. The structured approach features concentrated coursework and a guided dissertation process, allowing degree completion in nine terms. The Executive EdD maintains the same rigorous standards as traditional programs, fulfilling all credit hour and degree specifications set by the College of Education and Graduate School.

Qualification Requirements

Each international applicant must hold the equivalent of a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution to be eligible for graduate admission. While individual departments may have more stringent requirements, bachelor degrees from Bologna Accord certified institutions are considered to meet this criterion. We do also consider Indian three-year degrees to be equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree.

Prospective students should have maintained an undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or a 3.0 average for the last 60 semester hours in a degree program.

TOEFL : The minimum score for admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 79 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT).
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): The minimum score for admission to a degree program or for non-degree admission is 6.5.
TOEFL paper-based score of 550 and above
