The Department of Geography and the Environment provides internship placements with the Geological Survey of Alabama and regional planning organizations. Students can pursue certification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as well as regional and urban planning programs. Further details can be obtained from the department's office.
Alumni secure roles including environmental advisor, forestry specialist, GIS specialist, land management officer, park ranger, urban/environmental planner, remote sensing specialist, research scientist, software developer, CIA field agent, EPA specialist, Forest Service personnel, USGS researcher, NOAA staff member, and municipal/regional planning officials.
