Geography is a diverse field that examines how humans interact with their surroundings. Our faculty teach classes and conduct research on pressing contemporary issues including urban expansion, migration patterns and effects, economic globalization and world trade, disease distribution, local development, climate change, environmental damage and recovery, watershed transformations, and spatial data visualization through GIS technology.
Studying geography equips graduates with skills for careers in both private companies and government agencies, while fostering the broad worldview essential for engaged citizens. Bachelor of Arts graduates have pursued roles as city planners, market researchers, environmental coordinators, site selection experts, and transit system designers.
The Bachelor of Science program trains students for technical careers as GIS professionals. Those earning a geography undergraduate degree are also well-prepared for advanced studies, allowing them to teach at universities or obtain leadership roles in government and industry through master's and doctoral programs.
