Prospective students in this program need solid musical training, including performance skills on a particular instrument or in vocal techniques.
An audition is mandatory for declaring a music performance major. Candidates must complete a distinct application for the School of Music, accessible online at https://music.ua.edu/apply-audition/undergraduates/undergraduate-audition-request/.
Auditions generally occur from January through March before fall admission. After passing the audition, students must officially declare their major by their fourth full-time semester (or upon reaching 61 credit hours for transfer students).
