Those applying to this program must possess substantial musical training. Applicants need performance experience with a particular instrument or vocal specialization.
Prospective music therapy majors are required to pass an audition. Scheduling an audition involves submitting a distinct application to the School of Music, accessible at music.ua.edu/apply-audition.
Auditions generally occur from January through March for fall admission. After passing the audition, students must officially declare their major by their fourth full-time semester (or upon reaching 61 credit hours for transfer students). Declaration is done through the Change of Major/Minor Application found in the Student section of myBama.
