The Master of Arts program offers students the adaptability to craft a customized study plan aligned with their personal interests, professional aspirations, and academic requirements. This 30-credit curriculum combines core Political Science methodology courses with specialized concentrations in one of three departmental focus areas: Security Studies, American Politics, International Studies, or Criminal Justice.
The Security Studies concentration equips students for roles in national security and diplomatic fields. This specialized path develops expertise in national security theory and practice, preparing graduates for careers in international diplomacy, intelligence agencies, military service, private security firms, law enforcement, corporate sectors, and related fields.

Qualification Requirements
Three letters of recommendation and a personal statement are required. The Graduate Committee examines applicants' college courses and grades. Applicants with undergraduate degrees or post baccalaureate work will be granted full admission if they have at least a 3.0 G.P.A. (out of 4.0) overall or 3.0 G.P.A. for their last 64 hours of course work and 3.0 G.P.A. in political science course work (or course work in major for non political science majors). No student will be considered for conditional or provisional admission to the program unless s/he has at least a 2.75 overall G.P.A, or at least a 2.75 G.P.A. for the last 64 hours and a 2.75 G.P.A. in political science (or course work in major for non political science majors).

The GRE is not required
International Students only- As determined by the graduate school, international students admitted to graduate study in Political Science must achieve a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 213 on the computer-based TOEFL or 79 or higher on the internet-based TOEFL.
