Civil engineers are responsible for planning, designing, constructing, and managing the essential infrastructure of contemporary society, such as roads, buildings, airports, seaports, tunnels, dams, bridges, and water and sewage systems.
The foundational courses in The University of Akron's civil engineering program cover: mathematics, solid and fluid mechanics, engineering materials, and environmental responses.

Upon completion, students receive a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
A civil engineering degree opens doors to careers in design, construction research, and education. Civil engineers also serve as construction site supervisors or municipal engineers. Many professionals in this field focus on structural, water resources, environmental, construction, transportation, or geotechnical engineering.

New Freshman
You are a high school student or have completed high school or equivalent and have never enrolled in a college/university. SAT or ACT is not required for standard admission or admission scholarship consideration for all types of applicants. An official SAT or ACT score is required to be considered for direct admission into your intended major.
All undergraduate international applicants must provide proof of English proficiency by meeting the minimum score from one of the following acceptable tests. This requirement can be waived if you meet certain criteria.
